About the Nantucket Hunting Association

The Nantucket Hunting Association is a dues and donation-funded, 501c3 nonprofit corporation with a mission to preserve the traditions of ethical hunting and to maintain the balance of Nantucket's wildlife resources. Founded in 1997, the association has members residing in many states. Association programs include Hunter Safety Education Courses given on Nantucket, and many other educational and conservation activities.

 

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month at 6:00pm at the VFW 22 New South Rd. Non-members and prospective members are welcome to attend!

 

The NHA is currently working on the development of the first formal shooting facility, the Nantucket Shooting Park, on Nantucket. Check the NHA message board for progress reports.

ACTIVITIES — PAST & PRESENT

  • · Host  public informational forums on outdoor issues.

  • · Distribute informational brochures to the public about hunting.

  • · Volunteer members conduct state hunter education & firearms classes.

  • · Sponsor & fund kid scholarships to the annual State Jr. Conservation Camp.

  • · Organize controlled hunts like the annual Ram’s Pasture deer hunt & annual Al Silva Golden Crow Hunt.

  • · Members raise Pheasant to release into the wild under state permit.

  • · Build, install & maintain duck nesting boxes in local wetlands.

  • · Refurbished the “Kennedy” bunker at the old retired Tom Nevers navy base.

  • · Developing the Nantucket Shooting Park!
